Creative Nonfiction Writing 2: Literary Journalism

WRITING

This is an intermediate course in writing creative nonfiction, with a concentration on literary journalism. It will build on elements of craft that were introduced in Creative Nonfiction Writing 1. Through directed reading of writers like Ed Yong, Susan Orlean, Rachel Kaadzi Ghansah, and Gay Talese, we will examine fundamental questions and challenges of long-form, narrative journalism and apply our learning to our own writing practice. PREREQ: Non-Fiction Writing 1. This course counts toward the Creative Writing Concentration.

Heather was fantastic, probably one of the nicest professors I've ever had. Her class is very engaging and she teaches very well. You WILL improve your writing ability in her class. There are weekly reading/writing assignments, but nothing overly long and they're generally interesting. She's also really personable and funny!
