BIOL 2651
MedPrep I - The Lecture Series
MedPrep I (Bio 2651) is a unique, interactive lecture series where the entire educational path of becoming a physician is reviewed. This course is particularly helpful for first-year and sophomore students in that it helps students obtain an authentic, accurate, and comprehensive view of the life of a physician and the process it takes to get there. It helps students develop a road map for their four years of college and helps students reflect on whether medicine might be the right career for them. Students also have the opportunity to talk with current medical students and resident physicians about their life in medical school and residency, respectively. MedPrep I is a prerequisite for MedPrep II (Bio 2654), the shadowing course that takes place in the Charles F. Knight Emergency and Trauma Center of Barnes-Jewish Hospital, the main teaching hospital for the Washington University School of Medicine. There is no outside coursework and no exams, so this course can be taken with the busiest of course schedules. Class attendance is required. A $10 course fee applies. For more details about the course, please see the website at: http://medprep.wustl.edu/. Pass/Fail only.

No work outside of class. All grades are based on attendance. Great tool to learn about medical school. Wasn’t super helpful for me personally

Super simple course that only requires you to attend for full credit. Super interesting if you are interested in going to Med School or want to see if Med School is a possibility for you.

This class was phenomenal and solidified my wanting to be pre med. Polities is leaving so I don’t know who is teaching it now but regardless it is so interesting and entertaining.

you just go to lecture. I realized I didn't want to be a doctor after add/drop and found this class boring and a waste of time

Dr. Polites is an amazing professor and such a nice guy. This class was so informative and I have learned information from it that I will want to know for years to come. Take this class, you won't regret it.

I had him for Medprep. The lectures are 2 hours long, which can seem like a doozy, but he is engaging the entire time. He's so funny, and there is a lot of valuable stuff to learn. The "Ooh-Aah" lecture is probably the most engrossed I've ever been in a lecture EVER - highly recommend!

Took in Summer 2021. The lectures were very useful and the videos he showed us were informative and hilarious at the same time. Dr. Polites is such a cool person and he is always open for questions.

Really resourceful class. Learned a lot, definitely every considering pre-med should take this class.

Greg Polites is an annoying, self righteous person. He told the same stories over and over again and bores you out of being pre-med. As a current WUSM student and a former wustl undergrad, I can say that Greg Polites does NOT offer an accurate portrait of the medical school. Please do not take Med Prep.
