Anatomy Figure Structure

ART

This rigorous drawing course explores traditional and new representations of the figure through the study of its structure and contemporary contexts. Research involves basic anatomy lectures and sketchbook activities that provide a vehicle for discovering the figure's architecture, mechanics and proportions. Art production is based on in-class and outside projects. Lectures, presentations, critical readings and the analysis of historical and contemporary figurative works support students in their investigations.

It’s a lot of work and you’re expected to do a lot of drawings outside of class but i honestly got so much out of the course and it’s my favorite art class ive taken at WashU!! Definitely take this if you’re unsure it’s so worth the hard work.

So hard, but so worth it if you’re willing to do the work. Jamie not only gives honest and helpful critiques but also takes time in the class to help you understand your creative practice as a whole and how to cultivate your inspirations. Just be ready to work really big, like 4ft x 5ft big.
