PHIL 5400
Advanced Political and Social Philosophy
A selective investigation of one or two advanced topics in the philosophical understanding of society, government, and culture. Readings may include both historical and contemporary materials. Possible topics include: liberalism, socialism, communitarianism, citizenship, nationalism, cosmopolitanism, social contract theory, anarchism, and the rights of cultural minorities. Prerequisites: one course in Philosophy at the 300-level, graduate standing, or permission of the instructor.

I really enjoyed this class. Maybe I just got lucky because all my classmates were very active, but Jason was able to speak on everything at length, the syllabus fit together perfectly, and the essays were challenging but made me learn significantly.

Do people at WashU just hate thinking? I took this class at SLU, and Jason knows the texts front to back, has a great dry wit, actually cares about your ideas, and is extremely reasonable about everything (e.g., grading, lectures, paper topics). Could not ask for a better philosophy professor.

He is not only handsome and fit but also a fantastic person and a knowledgeable proffessor. I've never been so comfortable with a teacher that knows so much about all the mucky mucks.
