Reviews
Very difficult if you are not an art major or good at art. I did every assignment but got a B as I was clearly the worst in the class. Still quite an understanding and helpful guy, but do not expect an A just for doing the assignments.

4-6 hrs/week
This class is a lot of work, but very fun and I felt myself getting better at drawing. You are told to be doing 3 hours of work after every class, although sometimes it is significantly less. You aren't graded on how good everything is, but more so your effort and how you progress throughout the class and listen to professor/classmate feedback.

Took for Portfolio Plus. Early is a fair grader and caring to students of different art levels.

Had him during the Portfolio Plus summer program as our drawing professor and was incredibly helpful and respectful.

Doug was a real gem to have during my first semester at WashU. Fun assignments, really approachable, and super caring. Even though the class was remote he offered students a couple of chances to do some in-person work which was so helpful. Sometimes the class critiques dragged on but everyone got something out of it. I'd highly recommend his class.

Professor Early has a very logical and formal approach to teaching drawing which may not be the most engaging format for some students. However, I found his class to be very helpful in building upon my abilities as an artist and designer.

Jamie's assignments were ridiculously hard. His assignments were bizarre and forced us to create work that reflected poor taste. I hated his class- it made me question my artistic ability and interest in art in general.
