Light workload outside of class if you focus on projects during class time.

He is ok, I think we just didn't vibe super well. He talks SO SLOW and I think is definitely more suited to teaching middle school or younger grades. He is kind of funny and can be helpful if you ask questions but otherwise critiques didn't really provide any feedback and nothing was on Canvas so instructions/due dates were often unclear.

Pike is the best. Pike is a god. He's so funny and entertaining, but very professional, organised, and helpful in critiques. He gives you a lot of freedom to draw what you want and in whatever style, and he makes you feel passionate about art. I learned a lot, had a lot of fun. You can tell he loves his job, art, and his students.

She talks a LOT in class, lots of examples that are redundant and unhelpful. Incredibly critical of students work, often in ways that are more rude than constructive. If she doesn't personally like it, will have you change it. Sometimes her directions were helpful & would make a piece better, but many times it's to change colors to one she prefers.

LISTEN TO THE REVIEWS!!! She's just a really bad teacher. She'll use made-up terms to describe art but also not be clear enough on what she wants sometimes??? She prefers your work to look how she wants it as opposed to what would be best for the piece. The workload is also INSANE!

As a person, I liked Miss Denise a lot, but I didn't love the class. I spent more time on 2D than any of my other classes, but that wasn't reflected in how much I learned. Her critiques weren't very helpful and we didn't get a single grade the entire semester, so it was impossible to know how we were doing in the class.

I feel like Miss Denise gets a lot of hate, but shes not that bad. She is really blunt so some people think she is mean, but I dont think that she tries to upset people. She really is passionate about teaching but sometimes misses the mark.

Prof pike is such an amazing professor, he gives really good feedback and is always willing to meet w/students outside of class to help them in any way possible. He is also super accommodating, where if ur unable to turn something in on time you just need to email him and explain the situation and he's super chill. Class pace is super manageable.

Professor Pike is extremely caring about everyones work and developmental process. He is also hilarious. The course was extremely engaging and effectively met all of the goals mentioned in the syllabus. This was my favorite class of the semester.

She's a godsend - the right amount of tough and demanding, and being understanding. She expects your best work but is sensible enough to ask for only what's needed to make sure you've learnt something properly. Seems distant at first but you'll soon realize she's genuinely caring . Regrades your work if you resubmit them.

2D design with Pike is great. He's really respectful and helpful to students, and makes the class bearable even to people who have no interest in it. He tells a lot of stories about his life and is just a very nice person and cares about his students' well being, not just their art. Take a class with him!

Professor Pike is very friendly and helpful. He is also open to learning new ideas from students and his main interest is helping all the students succeed.
