Great professor. He goes out of his way to help students. The class discussions are interesting and engaging. I highly recommend this course.

Just a great professor - really helps you and knows not just what to help you with, but HOW to help you. Really decent guy too.

This class teaches valuable critical thinking skills for psychology and cognitive science. Professor Towl really wants you to understand the material and is a very helpful professor who will answer all your questions thoroughly.

took inquiry to cogsci with him - extremely clear and usually very interesting lecturer... definitely knows what he's talking about (i learned alot) and is good at engaging the class with intro discussions and random bits of funny knowledge about experiments. taught me to think more critically about cogsci methods. fair tests. highly recommend!

All he did was summarize paragraph by paragraph from the book, and mark down papers for following the prompt and including your own ideas. Disregarded the classical philosophers almost entirely.

also took Inquiry to CogSci (201) with him. Towl is a nice guy and a good professor in the sense that he knew what he was talking about but he gave an unreasonable amount of work in both classes (9 group papers, 4 tests in Inquiry, 15-20 page paper in Phil of Mind.I don't know what the first comment is about because there were very few discussions.

Towl is a great guy. The class was extremely interesting, and you'll be hard pressed to find a professor who is more willing to go out of his way for students. That being said, the content can be difficult at times, but is definitely manageable- just keep up with the readings!

Towl is a great professor, and it helps that he teaches one of the most interesting courses available. He does an incredibly good job at fueling discussion and he always seems to have an answer to anyone's questions, despite the fact that his class covers topics such as evil, consciousness, and God. Extremely helpful/interesting, great discussions.
