Brett Kessler

Dr. Kessler is AWESOME!!! He's a really nice, helpful guy, but sometimes overly helpful, and he runs out of time for lecturing while answering questions. Reading is very easy - he gives you typed summaries of the textbook chapters - and tests are almost word for word from them. Keep up with it though - the pop quizzes can be hard!

Kessler is great. He's quirky and keeps the class entertaining. He is also a nice guy and good teacher. This class was easily one of my favorites.

Great guy- Kessler is easily one of the best lecturers on campus. He's clear and entertaining, but sometimes lets a few students take over the class with silly questions and comments. Tests and quizzes were quite fair given you spend enough time reviewing the material leading up to the exam.

Often goes off topic and devotes entire class periods to taking questions and then just gives ambiguous answers

I learned so much! He knows what he's doing and cares about his students. Well prepared for class and he's always there to help.

Intro to Linguistics: Kessler is very knowledgeable, passionate, and funny in a sometimes weird way. I learned a lot and was very interested, despite the fact that he was often critical and gave negative feedback for student efforts.

Professor Kessler is a nice guy. His classes make me laugh and the material is interesting. That being said, unless you have a few linguistics classes under your beld (not just the prerequisite intro class) this one may require a lot of work. Most of the time I don't know what he's talking about. He makes the class MUCH harder than it needs to be.

I really enjoyed this class, and this professor. He's very quiet, but has a subtle sense of humor. His lectures are very enjoyable to those who acutally listen to him. He tends to direct his teaching at those few people who actually are paying attention. Easy exams.
