I really enjoyed Dr. Bayazit's class; he demonstrated a passion for the material. His lecturing style emphasized explaining through examples. I looked forward to his lectures and had fun with the projects. (It looks like the Machine Learning course has since been renumbered to 517A.)

Bayazit does not understand how to be a professor. He uses no reference text (unless you count "Google"). He has no organization to lectures and he does not give time for people to comprehend his lectures or the subject matter. New lab every 2 days without subject being covered amply. Four Words: Do Work Study Instead.

pretty funny guy, and it was worth attending lecture for the first half of the semester... then everything got kinda unstructured

His lectures are useless, and I rarely attended, however the labs and homeworks are actually pretty good, and I always learned the material well after completing them. I would not recomend this class though unless you like to learn things on your own.

I sleep through his class and I don't feel bad at all. I read book but after the lecture it doesn't make sense. It seems like he is teaching himself and does his rough work on the board. It also seems like he just enjoys himself during the lecture and turns around and realises that there are students also here.

Dr. Bayazit is awful. I respect him as a person, but he is a rotten lectuerer. His poor grasp of the English language (he is Turkish) doesn't help, but he does not know what he is doing; he has to be corrected constantly in class. It is definitely worth the trouble to try to arrange some other professor to teach Comp. Architecture.
