Carter gets an undeserved bad rep imo. I would give 3.5 stars if I could. Sure, he's not the most entertaining lecturer but I've had far worse at WashU. He actually teaches the content and has a very easy grading system. Don't let the bad RMP ratings discourage you from taking this class.

Not really a hard class but lectures are dreadful. Learned some good stuff, but had to read a good amount.

Very little work, just monotone lectures. That said listen in lecture so you can get out of doing the textbook readings. Blue book exams that are short answer

Easy class if you skim the textbook/at all take notes in class. Lectures are boring but you can do other work during them.

Very easy class, very boring lectures but still felt like I got some value from the course content. Does a good job of putting various different political and social systems together to contextualize international interaction. Establishes a good framework for understanding international relations and the various social processes involved.
