Canvas is overwhelming but its a point system so if you do what you're asked you will get a good grade

Such a chill but quirky guy. He really values student success. I thought the workload was very manageable and a lot of times fun. He's lenient on deadlines, and is okay with negotiating some of the work. The classroom was a very safe space and literally I would recommend him like a million times over.

Mr. King is great! If you put in the work and follow his guidelines for writing assignments (which he goes over in depth), this course should be an easy A. Very enjoyable classroom environment and low-stress if you manage your time well, although Mr. King is generally lenient on deadlines.

Mr. King runs this class much differently compared to other professors, so it depends on what you like. If you do the work, follow the guidelines on canvas, and listen to his feedback, you will end up with an A. The workload is not too bad.

Mr. King is an elite professor. He has a ton of interesting stories, brings in knowledgeable guests, and helps all of his students become better speakers and writers.

Mr. King is a great and understanding teacher. He believes late is better than never, and Canvas might feel overwhelming at first, just ask—he's super talkative and willing to help. Make sure to 100% follow all the instructions for essays, even the "drafts". He gives harsh comments, but just ask, he will explain and re-grade if you make changes.

Basically a walking eccentric professor stereotype—you either love him or hate him. Canvas can seem overwhelming, but the workload is a lot less in reality. Definitely reminds me more of a seminar-style course! Essays have a strict rubric, but Mr. King also incorporates a lot of interesting assignments beyond the basic college writing criteria.

The assignments for this class are very helpful and practical, one of them helped me get a research opportunity. He gives harsh feedback on essays but there are a lot of participation points throughout the semester

Professor King was very caring and pretty funny. His feedback is tough but almost always right. He implements a rewrite policy that boosts your grade while allowing your writing to improve based of his feedback. Also, a third of the class was participation so it was very easy to do well given you put moderate work outside of class.

Mr. King's not great if you're not already interested in writing, and I never would have taken the class if it wasn't required. He has a very clear idea about how he thinks essays should be written and gives very harsh feedback (way too harsh for freshmen in a required class) if the rough drafts aren't exactly what he imagined. He is funny though.

4-6 hrs/week
The actual class time was kind of boring, especially hearing some guest speakers at 830am. King has amazing feedback on every essay and you get good grades by listening to them. He will leave you 5-15 minute voice recordings about your essays. Also a nice guy. Would recommend. He gives a lot of freedom and you can write whatever you want

Chris King is chill. You can guarantee about half of the points by completing the assignments, and he's quite flexible with deadlines. Essays are long and annoying at times, but the workload is mostly manageable. He gives harsh comments, but the scoring criteria are pretty clear and grading isn't horrendous (I survived as an international student).

this man is a joke. He comes in here and gives you these expectations that he is not able to deliver on. His grading scale is bogus. It is out of 100 points, so if you lose a point on an assignment, it could mean a whole letter grade. His guest speakers are fine, but during this time he literally falls asleep. class=joke. just dont expect to learn.

Class has three essays, while the remaining assignments are super simple (will take 15-30 minutes to complete). Critiques are harsh, but will help you get a good score if you follow through. Instructions are straightforward. Classes are enjoyable since he's funny. He's also easily approachable after class. Overall, if you need an A, Mr.King got you

This class is a massive waste of time; for half of the semester, King just brings in guest speakers to talk about their careers, rather than actually teaching us writing techniques, which made going to class seem useless. King also gives really harsh oral critiques, so it can be demoralizing to listen to his feedback since it's always negative.

he is so nice and so easygoing. not hard at all to do well. deff take.

Super interesting guy, friendly, and funny. Harsh critique but if you work to address comments it will translate to a good grade.

Mr. King is a good teacher for students who are already pretty good at writing and are able to take criticism. Regarding feedback, he doesn't hold back and tries to make the grading criteria as objective as possible. He is pretty eccentric, which turned off some of my classmates. Overall, I say he's a good teacher but it depends on personality.

Did not teach students how to write. So you were stuck if you didn't have prior experience. He even said he didn't like the analysis paper so simply didn't teach students how to do it. When asking for extra feedback, he didn't respond back. Didn't learn anything from this class, don't recommend.
