Gillian Russell

I LOVE Dr. Russell. The class wasn't too difficult but there's a good amount of logic involved. She's crystal clear with her explanations. She promoted good discussion and is very knowledgeable in philosophy. I don't see what the other people are talking about, I loved her.

Expectations for test are unreasonable. Lectures incredibly boring. Material is entirely new to most students, but Russell makes no effort to help those who are struggling. About 1/5 of the class dropped out after midterm, which seemed to delight her. Don't take this class.

This class is SO BORING. Russell prefers you to work out the material in small groups, and when you don't know what you're talking about this is kind of difficult to do. She's very into the material though, so if you have an interest in language go for it. Grading is by means of 5 papers.

Grades were based 60% on 6 hws which were about every other week, and the other 40% was a midterm and a final. The material is not that difficult, but can be very confusing, and Russel doesn't always do the best job explaining. If you have programming experience, this class will be a joke for you.

prof. russell's intro to logic was a good course. most homeworks were very straightforward, as was the midterm, but the final was dreadful. still, take intro to logic with her if possible. covers material slowly, making it easy to grasp material even if you only attend class every other time.

Jill is extremely cute. She's also a great professor, VERY into philosophy.

Lectures are a bit boring, but paying attention pays off a lot. She takes the material pretty slowly so it's easy to follow. Do the homeworks legitimately and you should ace the course.
