Quality: 3Difficulty: 3ACCT 2610

4-6 hrs/week

memorizing the practice exams is pretty much the only way to do well unless you already have an understanding of accounting

12/28/2024

Quality: 2Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

4-6 hrs/week

Definitiely go to Office hours so Jennings knows your face because otherwise he isn't inclined to help you out. Some people like him because he is consistent with his teaching, and the long answer practice questions are similar to the exams, but he zooms through lectures and doesn't answer questions well in class. Not to mention the actual content is convoluted, so he's basically only helpful if you already have a good idea of how to do the course material and want to ask clarifying questions.

Quality: 1Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

2 or less hrs/week

The content on the exams were stuff we'd never gone over in class nor were included in homework

Quality: 2Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

Jennings teaches material at a pace which is often pretty unachievable to keep up with without spending hours outside of the classroom. Though he seems friendly at a surface level he is not very approachable - in fact he is slightly condescending when asking for help/questions.

Quality: 4Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

ACCT 2620 is not an easy class. If things click, that's great, but if they don't, it's hard. Jennings goes fast during lectures, so you'll walk out confused. However, there is no homework - just do like 5-6 of the practice test exams he gives you the week or two before the exam comes and you'll be good. Highly recommend office hours too.

Quality: 5Difficulty: 3ACCT 2610

In spite of the large amount of material to memorize in Accounting, this class is not bad. Jennings gives the past ten exams to study and ends up basically copying and pasting one of the tests for the actual test. I really liked Jennings as a professor, as he would constantly tell jokes and stories to make the class more engaging. Highly recommend.

Quality: 5Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

He will teach you accounting. Read the textbook sections he tells you to, pay some attention in class, and study well (he gives 10 years of past exams and picks one randomly to reuse for each exam w different numbers), and you will do well in the class. Tells funny stories sometimes.

Quality: 5Difficulty: 3ACCT 2610

Jennings made accounting interesting. As long as you do the past tests (which we have the last 10 years of) and participate in class, you will be fine. One thing to look out for is that 75% of your grade is based on exams, and there is no homework. Overall interesting lecturer and a very doable course.

Quality: 3Difficulty: 3ACCT 2610

Jennings is a nice guy, and the material is straight forward, but he's bad at explaining things and bad at lecturing.

Quality: 5Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

Professor Jennings made his Intro to Financial Accounting class as engaging and interesting as possible for an accounting course. He did his best to make confusing concepts easy to understand in lectures by using plenty of examples. Tests and quizzes can be difficult but he provides plenty of practice exams as resources to prepare.

Quality: 5Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Professor was nice; just make sure to show up to class and participate. His tests are super hard and you need to do practice exams from previous years to do well.

Quality: 5Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

Jennings was a great professor. Lecture slides on Canvas. I needed to read the textbook to understand everything. Exams were fair and he posts a ton of practice exams that were very similar to the actual exams. Jennings was available in office hours, and he always wanted to help. He really cares about students. My favorite professors at WashU.

Quality: 4Difficulty: 2ACCT 2610

Overall a solid professor. He went too fast through the lectures in class and I often had to find what he flew through in class within the textbook later. Midterm Exams were fair but the final covered wayyyy too much material for one person to memorize.

Quality: 2Difficulty: 3ACCT 2610

I still can't understand why students are not allowed to use laptops in class. The material is boring and not related to the exam. U need to do practice the previous exams if want to get an A.

Quality: 5Difficulty: 4ACCT 3610

Don't listen to the reviews from last year (20-21). Jennings is great, great guy and has some interesting and funny stories in class. Exams are fair, only a bit difficult due to the breadth of material covered. Helpful in office hours. 3610 is obviously more difficult than 2610 but highly recommend even if you're not an accounting major.

Jennings is an amazing professor!!!! He has bro energy and is very chill. I also truly appreciated how patience and enthusiasm when he answered questions, both inside and outside of class! His grade breakdown is tough, but he gives you the exam questions in advance so it's very fair. He made a boring subject interesting and understandable. :)

Quality: 5Difficulty: 2ACCT 2610

I'm TIRED of all the Jennings slander. I was scared going into this semester after reading all of the negative reviews, but he was actually a great professor. He goes through plenty of examples in class, doesn't test on random details (all tested material was covered in class), made his exams extremely fair, and was overall a really cool guy.

12/8/2021

Quality: 1Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

The Material is extremely boring and most of people around me are regretful to take this course. The tests and quizzes are difficult too.

8/29/2021

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

To be honest, he is not a good professor. Teaching is very awful with very crazy tests.

7/17/2021

Quality: 2Difficulty: 4ACCT 3610

Professor Jennings definitely teaches difficult material. Your grade is entirely composed of tests/quizzes which definitely raises the stakes a little. My biggest issues with this class were that he tested specific things that he glossed over during class and the test questions were much more difficult than in-class examples.

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Low quality class... stupid tests and quizzes. Avoid!

1/2/2021

Quality: 4Difficulty: 4ACCT 3610

For 3610, his class lectures were pretty clear (with a few exceptions) and there were plenty of examples to study from for the tests/quizzes. His class is test-heavy, as is with any accounting class so that's within the norm. I don't love the material, but he made accounting at least somewhat interesting and he's a really nice and understanding guy

12/27/2020

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

75% of this class is exams, means there is no room for mistake for such an entry level class. Lectures are horrible and exams are like nightmares. Better take with other Professor.

12/22/2020

Quality: 2Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

Pretty awful teacher. He would often add material to the test and quizzes that he didn't effectively cover in class.

12/21/2020

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Jennings is a good instructor, teaches fine. Exams are impossible to complete and graded harshly. His final is very, very hard, he is a true innovator on the next generation of hard classes in US colleges. Some WashU classes maybe hard, but Jennings is at the next level.

12/20/2020

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

He keeps you enrolled by giving easy quiz before the last day to drop. This semester, when WashU extend the P/F grade option change deadline to 12/14, he made every quiz before the deadline much easier, and then give an EXTREMELY HARD final on 12/18(when you are persuaded to keep this class as letter grade). His teaching is a joke, so do his tests.

12/20/2020

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Stopped going to live class after he began cold calling us to answer questions we've never gone over before. He will say the material is easy during class which makes me feel stupid/scared to ask questions in fear of not understanding concepts that are "easy". Was thinking majoring in accounting but now I would literally rather do anything else.

12/20/2020

Quality: 2Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Lectures mainly on NEVER TESTED material and does NOT focus on REAL WORLD. Lecture reflect NOTHING of the tests. Condescending and unhelpful in office hours; doesn't understand the students' feeling, always over-confident about his ability in explanation. Test questions are difficult (especially after drop and Pass/fail period). Not ethical.

12/20/2020

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Dont know how he got some fine reviews before. But his ACCT 2610 class/exams/quizzes is terrible, absolutely terrible. This is not my personal opinion, this is a VERY common feeling in his entire class. He is not even a OK teacher in any aspect.

12/20/2020

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Took accounting before I transferred to WashU (got an A) but they wouldnt accept it for credit so I had to take accounting again. Im eternally grateful for my previous knowledge which helped me pass his extremely hard tests. Got screwed on the final though, cant imagine what it was like for students who had this as their first accounting course

12/20/2020

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5ACCT 2610

Tested on things not taught in class nor mentioned in the textbook. He made exams and quizzes harder this semester in comparison to past ones. Some of the terms and concepts I encountered for the first time on the exams. I printed out the past 8 years worth of exams/quizzes to study each time and still would not be able to perform well on tests.

12/19/2020

Quality: 5Difficulty: 4ACCT 2610

He was a super nice guy and really cared about us understanding the material and the logic behind it. Lectures have a lot of examples/practice problems that are very helpful. The class itself is pretty difficult and would be regardless of professor, but I really think that he was effective in teaching us the subject.

12/24/2019

Quality: 5Difficulty: 4ACCT 3610

Great professor with clear lectures. Some professors assume you know things so tend to skip over steps but that is not the case with Jennings. He makes sure to leave time for questions and his office hours really help! He is funny and makes the class interesting. I was questioning whether accounting was still for me but now I am sure it is.

12/14/2016

Quality: 4Difficulty: 3ACCT 2610

Awesome professor for financial accounting. Very clear lectures. Goes pretty quickly and will let you out of class when he finishes his lecture, but will always answer any questions you have. Helpful in office hours, too. Exams are very fair, but comprehensive and there's a lot to remember for them. Overall great, down-to-earth guy.
