Sweet lady/very good humored! Learned so much(esp.different tenses) Big on having people up to the board to write exercises & it surprisingly helps a lot! Hw every night-not too heavy but graded on completion. Only complaint-grading of tests:even when I studied a lot, I still got Bs. Got a B+in class but I think I deserved A for all of my hard work

Nice woman, enjoyable class, teaches you some serious french. One complaint=grading. Never before have I complained re:hard grading, but her standards for an A were inordinate. Also her grading system rewards you for doing less. Focuses on perfection not effort, so those who write short dumb sentences win out (I tried both on tests, I know). Eek.

She is a very difficult teacher, but she is most concerned with students showing improvement so take her advice and demonstrate it in the next assignment.

After 3 semesters and many courses, Mme. Breakstone is still the best teacher I've had at Wash U. She cares very much for the students and does what it takes for everything to be understood. If taking French, make sure it's with Mme. Breakstone.

She is a really caring and helpful teacher. The class was somewhat difficult (but not nearly as difficult as the other sections). She really cares about her students, knows them all by name, and helps out whenever she can. If you are taking french, I would recommend her class.

Wonderful teacher. very knowledgable, speaks clearly and, when asked to clarify, explains clearly. Also, she's very, very understanding if you can't get the homework done or can't come to class. However, assignments can be very difficult to understand, and the work load is large.
