Michael Getty

Getty is one of the silliest professors I've ever had which makes going to class sometimes seem like an adventure! He does a good job of explaining the material and really wants all his students to do well.

Getty is the best of all of the linguistics teachers. He is very thorough and is quite a character too! I really enjoyed this class...although linguistics is a counter intuitive subject, Getty makes is fun! I highly recommend this class.

I really enjoyed the class, but Getty could be EXTREMELY obtuse. He would also get confused and even make mistakes on things, which was difficult to deal with, especially when you've been working on a problem set for 3 hrs. I think he knows an awful lot but may not be the greatest prof.

Intro linguistics is supposed to be one of the most fun and interesting classes to take during your 4 years at Wash U . . . do NOT take it with Getty!
