My favorite course I’ve taken at WashU. The course is so incredibly challenging and the homework sets will take up a LOT of time. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!! But ultimately the class is so rewarding and you learn a lot and Tikhonov does a great job at giving grades that are fair especially considering the effort put in

This class is so hard and so much work. Homeworks, which are the majority of the assignments, are really hard. Exams are not awful, but still not easy. The challenge problems are the worst thing ever and I wanted to pull my hair out and end it all. It is a lot of work, but you will also learn so much. If you want to leave intro physics with any real understanding and are willing to work, take the focused sequence. Regular is a joke. You will learn a lot, and an A if very possible bc of the amount of extra credit given. The prof's understand that this class is hard and want you to do well.

It is definitely possible to get a pretty high grade in this course if you put in a lot of time. Homework is very challenging and makes up most of the grade. It just takes a really long time to make sure you are doing the homework and challenge problems correctly.

Meeting and learning with professor Tikhonov is a fortune of mine. Professor successfully showed us physics' basic idea and its close relationship with math through the course. He designed everything well! He was caring! He authentically tried to help the students.nnHowever, all these benefits come with your efforts: this is a hard course!

Probably the most difficult class I've taken. It required a lot of time studying and banging my head against a wall. However Tikhonov is dedicated to helping his students actually understand the material at a deep level and not just teaching them what they need to pass. You will be a better student after his class. Go to Office Hours.

He's a tough professor for sure, but you get to learn so much when taking his class. If you're ready to put in some extra work, you'll come to find that he is an amazing teacher that helps you really understand the course content.
