BIOL 1500
Molecular Biology of Genetic Disease
This course is for first-year, non-transfer students only. Students gain a fluency in biological language, methods, and reasoning as applied to human health. We study the molecular, cellular, and physiological perspectives for each health-related topic, and examine data and methods that support this knowledge. We emphasize problem-solving and reasoning as it applies to understanding biological processes. The content and problem-solving work are designed to help students prepare for Biology 2960, which is offered each spring semester. Intended for students without strong AP Biology preparation, which is helpful for success in Biology 2960

Kundle is a great professor and this class is very good prep for 2960. However it’s a lot of work and the content is not easy but is very interesting. Must pay attention in class.

Took Molecular Biology of Genetic Disease. If you don't watch the lectures outside of class, you are screwed, but they are only 20 min and help guide you through the class. He is a great teacher and super understanding for extensions. AI's are actually clueless tho.

Awesome professor and really caring guy who genuinely cares about the well-being of students. Lectures are great too and it is an overall great introduction to biology.

Really nice guy, grading is tough, and the AIs are clueless. I could really see me and him being friends outside the classroom, he's super approachable.

Easy going and great at breaking down the course material. Tests and quizzes match exactly the content in class, so as long as you put in the work by watching lectures and participating in class, you will do just fine.

Great professor. Would take again, he is very accessible outside of class and I was usually the only one at office hours! Biology is challenging for me but he explained things without making me feel stupid and I appreciate that.

he gives lectures that you have to watch before class which explains everything clearly, then opens discussion in class to clear up any remaining questions. You can also set up office hours with him on zoom or in person, which was really helpful to me. But don't rely on anything last minute, sometimes he takes a bit to respond :D

An interesting class that is not a huge stressor grade wise. Well structured so due dates were very clear. Kundel is a very nice professor that actually enjoys what he is teaching. Sometimes a hard/picky grader but manageable.
