Investments Praxis
In this course students serve as managers of a portfolio, the Investment Praxis Fund, which is owned by the school. Students will analyze investment opportunities in various industries and present recommendations to the class for possible purchases or sales of securities. Students must demonstrate that their investment decisions are consistent with the style and objectives of the fund. Valuation tools, financial statement analysis and investment techniques are emphasized as part of a thorough analysis. The course will blend theory with practical advice from investment professionals such as portfolio managers, securities traders, and consultants.

Professor Cuny is knowledgeable, but extremely rude and condescending. His class revolves around either you agreeing or disagreeing with his opinion, and much of your grade is determined by group projects and non-constructive feedback. Overly stressful class with very little actually learned, would definitely, definitely NOT recommend.

His way or the highway, even if they both are valid. You will be ridiculed in front of the class and learn nothing from it. He is very smart, but this class doesn't teach you anything beyond just using historical information to predict the future. You are not taught to analyze businesses beyond what is common knowledge. Grading depends on mood.

He is very strict and any small mistake will be scolded if he finds it. I believe I would have given him a 1 if I hadn't seen my letter grade.

Professor Cuny is the best professor I have ever met in Olin.

The grading criteria is blurry, you would not know how he gives the participation mark, and it is huge in the total mark. Your GPA can be screwed in some way you do not understand. Professor Cuny is good at spotting calculation mistakes and is quite knowledgeable. However, he is harsh and would not let anyone challenge his authority in class.

Genuinely wants you to learn and will go out of his way to help you. Might be boring sometimes but excellent teacher overall.
