Professor Cuny is knowledgeable, but extremely rude and condescending. His class revolves around either you agreeing or disagreeing with his opinion, and much of your grade is determined by group projects and non-constructive feedback. Overly stressful class with very little actually learned, would definitely, definitely NOT recommend.

Do you know what "Shi" is? If you don't know, take his class. I never saw a rude and sarcastic professor like him before. He is just like trying to imitate the style of classes from Ivy school, but he is a poor and unskilled imitator. He has a high-level educational history, HOWEVER, THAT DOES NOT MEAN HE ALSO HAVE A HIGH-LEVEL TEACHING SKILL.

If you want to experience a class where the final exam determines your grade for the entire semester, then this class would be a good experience.

His way or the highway, even if they both are valid. You will be ridiculed in front of the class and learn nothing from it. He is very smart, but this class doesn't teach you anything beyond just using historical information to predict the future. You are not taught to analyze businesses beyond what is common knowledge. Grading depends on mood.

He is very strict and any small mistake will be scolded if he finds it. I believe I would have given him a 1 if I hadn't seen my letter grade.

Professor Cuny is the best professor I have ever met in Olin.

The grading criteria is blurry, you would not know how he gives the participation mark, and it is huge in the total mark. Your GPA can be screwed in some way you do not understand. Professor Cuny is good at spotting calculation mistakes and is quite knowledgeable. However, he is harsh and would not let anyone challenge his authority in class.

Great professor and an incredibly knowledgeable guy educated at both cal tech and stanford. The material is challenging, but the class has a hefty curve.

I took Fin 340 and FIN 441 with him but I never understood his notes/class. I had to borrow notes from other professor's section to study for the exams.He is a great guy though and very knowledgeable of the subject he is teaching

Cuny is easy, clear, and hilarious in class. However, I feel like the class was almost too easy. I feel like I could have learned a lot more from an intro corp. finance course, and I know some of the other professors who teach this course do a bit more. Also, love the hawaiian shirts and orange soda.

Charles is one of the greatest professors at Olin. He's incredibly supportive and generous, and he really cares about students' personal, professional development. If you are interested in finance, his understanding of the material is mind-blowing. If you're not, he can still make the material engaging for you.

Hard and challenging material, but not hard to get an A. No textbook. Wears cool clothes.

Cuny is a fantastic professor. He is extremely helpful outside of class, and covers all important material in great detail. He is the best finance professor I have had so far.

Mind-numblingly boring - not recommended for those who get little sleep to begin with. But the curve is generous.
