Beth is my favorite professor I have ever had! Not only is she hilarious and engaging, but she thouroughly explains the topics and makes sure each student is understanding the material. In her class, I have never felt like just another student. WGSS has been one of my favorite courses, all because of her!

She grades very harshly and is so against grade inflation that she seems to have made it her personal mission to not let anyone get an A in class. On individual assignment, the highest grade she gives is a 95 (and that is a rare occurrence), even if you did everything perfectly. I would NOT recommend anyone taking her class if they don't have to

Beth is what professors should strive to be like. She cares about her students in a way that is so genuine. She is both kind and honest, and she manages to facilitate a classroom of laughter and good vibes despite the wide range of students you get in a gen ed course (WI). You will look forward to going to class each day. Also attendance is strict.

She is an amazing teacher and really cares about her students! The class can be tough and she is a harsh grader, but I think it is worth it to learn from her!

Beth is a great prof. I recommend her to anyone and everyone. Our class both learned and laughed a lot.

Beth is one of my favorite professors I've had during my time at WashU. She's super nice and amazing at facilitating class discussions that feel impactful, and she gives amazing feedback on writing assignments. If you haven't taken a class with her yet then you should get on it ASAP, you will not regret it.

Beth is absolutely amazing. This class has to be one of my favorites at WashU, and that's largely due to Beth. She genuinely cares so much about each and every student, and goes out of her way to make personal connections with everyone. Her teaching style is wonderful and she is hilarious. She truly wants all her students to succeed.

This is hands-down, my favorite class I've taken! Beth is one of the kindest professors I've had and really cares about her students as learners and as individuals. My skills as a writer have improved so drastically in her class and taking this course has reignited a love of reading for me. If you do anything in college, take a class with Beth!

I can honestly say this has been one of my favorite courses at WASHU, and it's all thanks to Beth. She is endlessly caring, accommodating, hilarious, and a genuine joy to be around. I will be genuinely heartbroken to not have her as a professor next semester, and I recommend taking any course with her you can! One of my all-time favorite professors

She is the absolute sweetest! Participating, reading, and writing papers is a big part of the class and it can be challenging, but I think it is so worth it. She is an amazing teacher and really cares about her students' success!

Beth is an outstanding professor. I took her class with no background in the subject, but her clarity, energy, and student-focused approach quickly made it one of the best courses I've taken. Beyond being a kind and thoughtful person, she's also one of the most compelling and entertaining lecturers at WashU.

One of the best profs as Washu. She's extremely smart, funny, and makes every class captivating. Definitely take her if you can. She's deeply committed to her students and fosters a learning environment that's welcoming and inclusive.

Beth is easily the best teacher I've had at WashU. Her classes are extremely engaging, and she is brilliant and laugh-out-loud funny. If you have the chance to take a class with Beth, it would be a huge mistake not to. She cares deeply about her students and goes out of her way to foster an inclusive classroom and respectful dialogue.

Beth is a great teacher! I have taken 2 classes with her and have really enjoyed them! I suggest everyone take a class with beth!

Extremely passive aggressive, different races and religions were not treated kindly. The class would have been great if she wasn't such a bully. Seemed really nice at first, turned out to be a awful. I withdrew from her course and retook it with another professor and it's been phenomenal.

Dr. Windle is an amazing professor! She genuinely cares about her students and has a gift for explaining difficult concepts with clarity. Attendance is important but it comes from a practical rather than rigid perspective. If you're an English major definitely try to take Lit Theory with Windle

Beth is by far the best professor I've had at WashU. Not only is she brilliant, but she is able to articulate class concepts masterfully, even when the material is complex. I always left class feeling confident about our readings. Beth is everything a student looks for in a teacher - inspiring, challenging, engaging, accessible, and hilarious!

If you do not interpret something the same as Beth or try to disagree with her to any extent, she will act as though you are dumb, and make passive-aggressive comments towards/about you. The class is okay, but I wouldn't recommend it. Beth is easily the worst professor I have ever had.

Beth is the best!! I took College Writing with her and she quickly became one of my favorite professors. Since then, I've taken many other of her classes. While there is lots of reading and writing, the content is very enjoyable and she gives great feedback. But most of all, Beth is incredibly caring and has your best interests in mind.

I had Beth for Writing Identity in my freshman year, and I learned a lot from that class - from reading papers/books and extracting useful information to interpreting different documents then analysing them, the class was challenging, but really interesting. Beth always had lots of energy and also lots of passion for what she was teaching.

Beth is an amazing professor and human being! Her college writing class changed my approach to writing. Her class is challenging but she's very caring and will make sure you understand the assignments. Fair grader and leaves constructive feedback before final draft. Would definitely take another class with her!

Beth was one of my favorite professors my first year. College Writing: Identity is very difficult and writing-heavy, but prepares you well for writing in future classes regardless of how tied you are to Identity as a subject. Office hours were incredibly helpful, but be sure to request them early. Attendance is mandatory for every class too.

she made me cry 3 times in a freshman writing class. if you didn't have her exact opinions and weren't that one kid who always contributed and talked a lot in class discussions, she won't think that you're competent enough in her class. i usually loved english and writing classes, and she has made me avoid the department here.
10/19/2021
Beth is honestly the best English/writing teacher I have ever had. She was super encouraging and really boosted my confidence in essay writing. I learned so much in her class and her passion for the material made the class even more interesting.

Beth checks off all the boxes in being organized, compassionate, a great personality, and memorable. Discussions are like friendly conversations, accepting of all ideas and with spontaneous and fun connections! Outside of class, the advice I have received from Beth regarding writing and life in general has also been invaluable and rare.

Dr. Windle is so compassionate that she'd listen to my anxieties outside the classroom; her classes are no less educational than her personality is inspiring, as I learned how to write college research papers. Lastly, why would my other classmate wait till the day before the deadline to visit her office and why wouldn't they follow her feedback?
1/19/2020
Go to office hours and she'll give you feedback. Follow that feedback (EXACTLY) and you'll get a good grade. Don't go or don't follow the feedback, and you'll get a bad grade. She will also rewrite your thesis for you the day before the paper is due and expect you to change everything. Don't take her class if you want to learn to actually write.

Had a great experience with Dr. Windle! She made all of our classes really fun and made a boring topic (writing and argumentation) really interesting by letting us argue about real topics, including school specific policy changes as our final. She was really inclusive and inquisitive, making things relevant to us as students and you f adults.
