Fun class. Agree it's a bit easy or less oratorically intense than I expected

I love him! Super kind, chill, and funny. Passionate about what he teaches and makes classes diverse in activities and engaging. Standard structure of WashU Spanish course with presentations and final paper-- unique in practicas, which are like open open-note test at the end of units. He gives very good feedback and makes a good class environment.

Prof. Cortes-Ferrandez took a difficult class (1020 is one of the most demanding in the Spanish program) and made it such a fun experience. While the workload is intense and you should be prepared to spend time studying, he gives a lot of credit for trying and really tries to help his students succeed as much as possible. Absolutely recommend.

Awesome professor who cares very much about each student and makes learning fun! I would definitely recommend taking Spanish 102 with him.

Fun class and he's light on grading. Feels more like a high school class. Since assignments are light, he cares more if it looks like you're paying attention rather than testing if you actually are, so take notes with a notebook.

Dr. Cortés Ferrandez is one of the best profs in the Spanish department and is funny, articulate, and the class is pretty chill. Definitely do start the final essay early though it is not something that lends itself to last minute grinding.

Incredibly interesting class—especially if you're interested in language and Spanish. Advice: start your final paper ASAP. Writing it last minute is not fun.

One of my favorite professors. You can tell that he truly wants his students to succeed. Willing to help everyone gets a's in class by offering to make up assignments. Super nice and makes class fun.

He is by far my favorite professor. Throughout the semester, we learned so much about different topics, and although we moved on to different topics each week, it did not seem overwhelming. He makes the class very engaging, which is super nice because it is not your typical lecture class. He is super understanding as well.

Professor Cortes Ferrandez has been my favorite Spanish professor at WashU so far! His assignments require you to think about the topics presented in class, but are designed in a way that does not cause as much stress as other classes. He is a fair grader and really cares about the students.
