Prof. Lawton is an amazing and engaging lecturer. He is so knowledgeable about the Bible and taught me so much. He supplements his classes/discussions with really interesting anecdotes from his life. He's a fair grader, very accessible outside of class, and is very lenient about extensions on papers. He genuinely cares for all of his students.

Professor Lawton is one of a kind. He is smart, funny, and genuinely cares about his students. If you put effort in (speaking up in class, seeing him outside of class) you will get a B+ to an A. If you have an opportunity, take a class with him. No matter what the subject is he will make it fun.

So knowledgeable about the Bible and teaches in a completely unbiased, literary way. Also always willing to meet and help with assignments. Take his class if you're at all interested in learning about the Bible as literature.

Professor Lawton is awesome. Chaucer is his specialty and that shows in his lively and entertaining lectures and discussions. He is very laid back and completely open to crazy ideas - he also has an amazing sense of humor. Take any class you can with him.
