Most of the works are completion grades, even essay drafts. He's so opened for feedbacks and ideas and encourage you to contribute to the class. He doesn't give a lot of homework compared to other College Writing class. Also allow you to resubmit if there is something wrong with your format, citation,... and still give full credit.

College Writing is a well-recognized grinding course at WashU, but taking the course with Dr. Iler would surely alleviate such pain to some degree. Everyone has to take CWP, so be nice to yourself and choose Dr. Iler as your instructor.

around 30% of the work is graded on completion. Needs to participate in class. Easy to reach out outside the classroom

Hes overall good. he grades pretty tough compared to other college writing professors but a better professor to relate to and become close with. I have largely no complaints other than the lack of rubrics for assignments and no clear guidelines for what is considered enough participation

Dr. Iler is one of my favorite professors at WashU. He really cares about his students and helped me become a much better writer. He's an honest grader but is helpful and if he sees improvement will give you good grades. Participation is important but he will not call you out. If you're taking college writing I highly highly recommend Dr. Iler!!

Professor Iler was an amazing professor who truly cares about what he is teaching. He is also very open to you coming up with your own topic - I ended up writing about memes for one paper and Minecraft for another. He wants to make the material engaging for everyone. Readings can be a bit long but all were interesting. He will help if you reach out

Dr. Iler is great. Writing Technology is a really interesting class and his feedback on papers is very helpful. Revisions/drafts for papers are a good experience.
