He explains concepts well and gave out prizes for winning kahoots. I like him.

Very rude and not helpful. Always makes students aware he is disappointed in them and a very hard grader.

Hugh Wu himself is a really nice guy. He really gives Asian dad energy: kinda stiff/awkward but wants you to succeed. First few weeks are meant to intimidate; after that, he never cold calls and material is way easier. Super responsive to feedback, easy to reach outside of class. Lectures are boring but not his fault the material is meh. Great guy!

Asian dad vibes. Lectures are a bit boring but he posts recordings + slides after class. Go to class b/c TAs track participation. Curved exams, manageable if you study. TAs are helpful for hw. After midsemester evals he adjusted his teaching style and let us drop an extra hw assignment. Overall very responsive to feedback and wants you to succeed.

My favorite class for the semester because of Wu, who clearly cares a lot about students' learning and wellbeing. A great teacher and an even better person!

Such an amazing professor! I really enjoyed the classes. MGT is a course that helps you grasp the fundamental principles of the business world.

AMAZING PROFESSOR EVER! I really enjoyed the classes. MGT is a course that help you grasp the very foudamental principles of business.

The first few weeks were definitely heavy, but things got better later on and felt more manageable. Some topics were a bit boring, but he did what he could to make them more interactive and fun. On a personal level, he is really caring and understanding, listens to feedback, and is very approachable if you ever need anything outside of class.

A lot of the reviews here are biased. Wu's class isn't very engaging, but it means you'll have an easier time in class overall. His class has a smaller size, and since the MGT final selects 2 students from each professor's class, there's a higher chance of being chosen for the final compared to Oren's class.

The lectures are very fast paced and often times new materials are not explained well or expanded upon. Subsection is pointless and the ta's are very unorganized. The exams are very difficult and are graded very harshly. Little instruction is ever given on assignments, and ta's always offer conflicting information.

Met with him several times to receive feedback and deferred to the TA's every time, who were extremely unhelpful. He is also really bad at answering questions on the material. Basically said on the first day if you haven't taken micro then you are at a severe disadvantage - Why not restructure the course then? Not like we ever used the micro stuff.

Professor Wu is very nice and approachable. The TAs are also helpful and always available to answer questions. The first test is on the tougher side, but the curve helps balance things out. Overall, it's a solid class, especially if you stay on top of the material and take advantage of the resources offered.

He is very lecture heavy but not engaging at all. He keeps a monotonous tone throughout and when you have him as you 8:30AM professor, it is a battle not to fall asleep. Tests were fair, the curve helped too. Even when others tell you that the exams get easier, keep studying to beat the curve and get a good grade.

This class is very poorly designed. The lectures are dry, Hugh just reads off slides and his explanations to questions are insufficient and difficult to understand. Aside from this, the course does not teach anything meaningful, it is just meant to be difficult for students. Grading criteria is heavily dependent on which TA you get.

Loved this course! Everything is quite straightforward and Prof. Wu is very fair. The class is well-organized and topics are interesting and engaging.

Professor was fine for a class that isn't great. Lectures aren't overly interesting but attendance is required. First test is HARD (avg was a 59%) but after that it gets better. Be prepared to read + study a lot, as well as put a lot of work into the case competition.

You definitely will need to do the work for this class, but as long as you do the work and go to office hours with TAs, you should be fine. Sometimes, he is a bit hard to understand, and occasionally, if you ask questions, the answers are slightly convoluted. Wu teaches concepts as interesting as he can and does want every student to succeed.

Wu teaches alright, he uses examples during class to connect the material, and if you closely listen to him and clearly understand what he is saying, you will most likely be fine. If you don't understand anything that he said, talk to TAs, he isn't good at answering questions.

Class is very poorly designed. You won't actually learn anything too meaningful or useful, but the class makes you work extremely hard if you want a decent grade. Case Comp teammates can make or break the whole semester. Hugh is a dry lecturer, not helpful when you ask him questions. I'd say about 5% of the TA's actually know the content well.

Wu is a pretty dry lecturer overall, and tests are hard (but curved to the point where it doesn't matter). MGT100 is a poorly designed class in general (case comp is a ton of work that feels rather meaningless), and TA subsection is useless. Be ready to do lots of work. Wu also takes the class a bit too seriously, but it's not a dealbreaker.
12/10/2023
MGT100 is an incredibly informative class, and Dr. Wu is a great professor for it. However, it is also incredibly difficult, especially if you have no prior microeconomics experience or get a bad roll on case competition teammates. Wu is dry but the content is (IMO) very interesting. Would take again.

Professor Wu is a nice person and he is very knowledgeable about the content. The course has a heavy workload, but the materials are useful and very applicable to the real world. Learned quite a lot through lectures and the case competition.
6/20/2023
Not the greatest lecturer. Explained concepts decently but answered people's questions poorly. Tests are hard but class is curved so it's fine. Definitely meant to scare first year b schoolers/BUCS. Eh professor/class overall.
4/21/2023
Very standard MGT 100 class. I could understand the lectures clearly (lectures were sometimes very monotone and boring) with the help of some TAs. Professor Wu is soft-spoken, kind, and helpful if you approach him. I recommend reading the course pack (it's ok if you don't) and taking advantage of his office hours (no one goes, so why not).
2/26/2023
Case Comp is very time-consuming, and lectures were often difficult to understand. Hard to determine your final grade until it is given since everything is curved at the end.
2/16/2023
The goal of MGT100 is to honestly frighten students a bit. At first, it will feel like Hugh is the driest and least caring professor. By the end of the class, he will probably start to lighten up (not too much though), and you'll understand that he cares, but not in the conventional ways you've known before. My advice: study, study, study.
2/2/2023
I will concede that Hugh's lectures can be pretty dry given his monotone voice, but he is a very knowledgable person and makes things easy to understand. About the course, MGT 100 is graded heavily by case comp, and 3 exams. The case comp is pretty easy, but the exams are a little more annoying. They are poorly worded, but the curve is generous.
1/25/2023
The grading on the case comp is harsh. Exams are not that hard if you fully understand all the concepts in lectures.
12/22/2022
Professor Wu is nice and clearly wants his students to learn. That said, his lectures can be quite dry, and he is not great at giving constructive feedback. All grading is done by TA's, so your only interactions with him will be during lectures. My biggest critique is that MGT 100 exams are poorly written and hard to understand.
