By far my least favorite class that I have taken in all of my academic career. His lectures were impossible to follow. Slides were so busy and explained very poor

Homework takes forever and is often irrelevant to exams. He comes off condescending in lectures and when speaking to him. Avoid at all costs.

If you go to lectures and understand the material on the slides, you will do great on the tests. On the exams, I didn't encounter any trick questions or material that was not taught in the class. The only thing was the homework was very long.

Not sure where the other reviews come from, Barrios is genuinely a great professor, hosted many review sessions before exams and gave great lectures. The homeworks are long but they really help you understand the material well and find gaps of knowledge. Exams are fair, but 2610 is a rigorous class so be ready to work for a good grade.

The homework is ridiculously long and frequently not related to test content. He is very unaccommodating and aims for a grade distribution lower than any other Olin professor. He's just generally the worst.

John is one of my favorite professors at WashU. He genuinely cares about everyone in his class. You must make an effort to get to know him outside of class. Attend review sessions and office hours! He wants you to succeed!!

Barrios is a good professor who cares about his students. Accessible outside of class and he really wants you to understand the material. However, the class is not easy, and studying is a must. The bad reviews are from his previous curriculum, but he adjusted it. Definitely recommend.

This man teaches with an ego. He previously taught at UChicago's masters program and it seems to have gotten to his head. He clearly cares more about his research than his students. The weekly assignments take 5 hours minimum because he formats them at the expense of your mental health. Avoid this man at all costs, take 2610 with another professor.

Worst professor I have had at WashU. There is weekly homework and Quizzes, which each takes at LEAST 3 hours. The final 35% of your grade, and it's the only test. His lectures are super unhelpful, as all he does is speak conceptually, rather than showing students how to do actual problems. Would never take a class with this man again.

If there's anything I've learned in this class it's that input = output. Professor Barrios didn't put much effort into the class yet expected us to make it our main priority. The syllabus quite literally being the least accurate sheet of paper I've encountered in my lifetime didn't help either. He's a kind guy but needs more perspective imo.

He got mad and angrily asked us why we wouldn't answer questions and how the same people were raising their hands. Also, the syllabus said that the final exam was online but decided to change it to in person halfway in the semester apparently. There were no emails or announcements on Canvas til 2 days prior. Only communications in person.
