Principles of Financial Accounting
This course introduces the fundamentals of financial accounting with an emphasis on recording common business transactions and mapping them into financial statements. It highlights how the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows communicate a firm’s financial performance and support informed decision making.

Changed class rubric, 3 tests instead of 2, but were replaced by graded cold call days in class over group cases. Was very condescending/rude if you didn't know the correct answer on those days. Fast-paced lectures. Confusing to know what he would ask on tests due to the change from 3 to 2. Tests are copies of previous years. Personable guy though.

By far my least favorite class that I have taken in all of my academic career. His lectures were impossible to follow. Slides were so busy and explained very poor

One of the most passionate people I've ever seen to be teaching accounting, which is saying something. Very friendly to students and easy to talk to. Also has very interactive lectures.

Lectures were fast-paced but all slides are posted with lots of practice examples. Exams are nearly identical to past exams. 35% of grade attributed to group cases that take ~4 hours to really understand. No homework or quizzes, so it's up to you to prepare for exams. Mandatory attendance. Super funny guy. Textbook not required but helps.

He is so excited about his topic, but unfortunately his topic is accounting. He brings great energy to a boring class. His lectures are very hard to follow.

The teaching style was not so engaging (but it was accounting), but the instructor really cared about students.

Great professor overall, engaging lectures, covers alot of material. Exams are almost same format as past exams and he makes it clear what to study. 3 exams total and some hw assignments.

Super nice guy, there's no homework so your grade mostly relies on exams, quizzes and group projects. Exams are kind of hard, but there's a nice curve.

I took ACCT 4640 (Audit). He changed the course from prior years, assigning more detailed and time-consuming homework. The work wasn't hard, just a big time commitment. Very old-school: no laptops, nametags, and frequent cold-calling.

Don't be fooled by the couple good ratings. Im guessing the only reason he's been given good ratings is because he seems like a chill guy. Almost entire grade is determined by exams, which are terribly hard for an intro class. If you have 40+ years of acct experience you may just be able to pass the class with a C. Good luck getting email response.

Jared Jennings is my dawg. His practice exams are so similar to the actual exams that if you fail it's genuinely on you. These ratings are absolutely not fair, just do your best in lecture and pay attention and he'll be your best friend.

He is a very nice person, but not a great professor. Very boring lectures, which covered material rather poorly. Tests were very hard (averaged around 20-50%) and cover things never done in class. Extra difficulty associated with this approach considering there is no homework, so if you don't study past exams, you would be completely lost.

Didn't curve exams or grades, only 5 questions, practice exams weren't the same level of difficulty as real ones

I took this virtually over the summer, and had a great time. Prof. Palmer was helpful and available for questions. The written questions were basically a P-set with a week to finish. The short answers were on a live, timed, in class session. Also not too bad, a lot easier than the mid-semester class.
