Reviews
By far my least favorite class that I have taken in all of my academic career. His lectures were impossible to follow. Slides were so busy and explained very poor

memorizing the practice exams is pretty much the only way to do well unless you already have an understanding of accounting

Wang Weiman is the worst professor I’ve ever had. I took accounting with him at SLU and he is a harsh grader, doesn’t teach well, and average final grade for the class was around a 65%

Professor Cheynel is really sweet and gives pretty good lectures. Homework was insanely reasonable and has unlimited attempts. The only thing was the final was insanely hard especially compared to any of the practices she gave us.

Definitiely go to Office hours so Jennings knows your face because otherwise he isn't inclined to help you out. Some people like him because he is consistent with his teaching, and the long answer practice questions are similar to the exams, but he zooms through lectures and doesn't answer questions well in class. Not to mention the actual content is convoluted, so he's basically only helpful if you already have a good idea of how to do the course material and want to ask clarifying questions.

Homework takes forever and is often irrelevant to exams. He comes off condescending in lectures and when speaking to him. Avoid at all costs.

Palmer is not the most engaging lecturer, but he makes an effort and is a professor who genuinely wants his students to succeed. He is extremely passionate about accounting and the business world with some super interesting experience. That said, the textbook will be a greater source for learning than his slides.

Overall not as hard as people say he is. If you give yourself enough time on the take-homes you will do decent. Just study for exams and take the time to do the homework assignments well.

The content on the exams were stuff we'd never gone over in class nor were included in homework

Barrios is mad overheated. The class is pretty easy to learn and he does an alright job explaining concepts. Do not fall behind on the homework’s and the exams are extremely similar to there practice exams

You definitely have to spend a lot of time out of class getting the hang of the material but I really enjoyed the lectures (the slides were very informative/straight from the textbook and he had in-class handouts where we would walk through certain topics). I also felt that I was not held accountable for a lot of the information on the exams as they were pretty straightforward and not too complicated.

Not very many assignments at all. Sort of hard to study for the exams but he is a very forgiving and understanding professor. Not difficult to get points back on the final because he is very understanding.

Cheynel is an amazing professor. She cares and is really passionate. Super easy class - barely any hw (just problem sets that often took less than an hour). Midterm is pretty easy. Final is harder but she curves. Make sure to study for both and use your cheat sheets!

Cheynel is a great and passionate teacher but I couldn’t understand her thick accent all year

Lack of homework makes studying for the exams difficult. Notes were kind of messy and slideshows were frustrating but okay class. Argued 20 points back on my final

This professor is so bad but the material and way that he teaches is really easy. He chronically would misgrade exams to the point where some people would get 25% back on their exams after going in to talk with him. You definitely learn the required material to do well in future classes and the lectures are pretty structured. I think most people got As as he pretty much gave the entire class a 5% grade boost on their final grade at the end of the semester. There was also like no outside assignments except for maybe 3 over the course of the entire semester, only suggested problems.

Palmer's class was a really good experience in my opinion. Not too difficult and overall reasonable exams. The one thing to note is that the take-homes can take a long time, but they are not too hard to succeed on. If you pay attention in class and ask questions, you will get a good grade in the class.

Cheynel is a very caring professor! She is extremely knowledgable about the course content and the class has low workload. Just make sure you understand the content well and prepare for the midterm and final as your grade is dependent on those. The professor and the TAs do many office hours so if you need help, you will definitely receive it!

Lectures were kind of boring and the take-home assignments were all pretty hard, but Palmer was open to answering questions and I thought the TAs were nice. If you read the textbook and understand quiz questions, you'll likely do well in the course.

Solid professor with lots of accounting experience. Grading is fair, and if you are willing to put the work in, you can get at least an A- in my opinion. Exams aren't difficult but again, you need to study and take enough time to complete the take-home portion. He is understanding a nice guy to talk to also, I think other reviews are too harsh.
