Very interesting class; prof Blanc is actually interested in hearing students' thoughts and fosters a good culture of discussion. the combination of history and literature is really well done. he is encouraging about students' work and offers a lot of extensions if you ask.

OMG. Not enough good things to say about him. I'm not an English kid in the slightest and I got through his class without reading a single book. Classes are never boring, and he is genuinely so caring. I cannot imagine him giving anyone a bad grade. (VERY) light assignments and the final paper is only 5 pages. Plus midterm assignment was fun + easy

Prof. Blanc's utopianism class was very intellectually engaging. I learned much about the world, not just about the novels we read but also their place in the context of the university an city around me. Some texts were hard to understand and you're expected to read them, but Prof. Blanc created a warm classroom where students could ask questions.

By far my favorite class this semester! I took a first-year seminar from him called Utopianism in American Literature. Professor Blanc is great at facilitating class discussions and summarizing ideas/concepts. The directions for essays were straightforward, and the feedback that he gave was very helpful. Highly recommend!

Prof. Blanc lead dynamic classroom discussions where everyone participated and was heard. Assigned readings were interesting and followed the (well-made) course syllabus. Essay feedback was constructive and actionable, and his grading system is transparent and fair. I highly recommend taking a class with him, regardless of your writing background.
