You don't know your grade in the class till the very end, and there are small reading check quizzes every class, which is very annoying (and stressful at times). She really cares about her work, and her lectures are good. Not an easy A, but definitely doable with medium effort. The case studies in class are informative, and case comp is intriguing.

Tsolmon is very sweet and reminds us that she does want all of her student to succeed. Her class though, can get pretty heavy with all the readings, and exams are heavily weighted (but curved). I enjoyed the class as I learned a lot, but there were a lot of times where her class was my biggest headache. All in all, lov

Lots of readings (especially after textbook readings are done), but the class is very interesting and not too difficult as long as you pay attention and participate daily or most days. Case comp was interesting but stressful because of the team I ended up with :’)

Class content itself isn't too difficult, but lectures are spent mostly discussing the superficial ideas and actual quantitative practice is left to subsections with TAs. Lots of reading before every class which is very painful for a slow reader like me. Case comp is very time consuming but TAs are super helpful with those. Exams are very long but curved but we'll never know our actual grade until the semester ends. On the bright side, Tsolmon is great at engaging the class and leading us to think like a business & management professional.

Tsolomon is a great lecturer and a fun teacher, however the class covers tons of content. Lots of readings, which you need to understand very well, and tests are impossible. You won’t know your grade until the end, so it’s kind of hard to do well in this class.

Case competition is fun but a lot of work. Impossible to know grade until end of the class which sucks. Exams are really long and no one finishes them

The professor is pretty engaging but just rambles on a lot and doesn't keep to the slides very well. I had no prior economics background coming into this class and did fine, the topics covered are pretty simple. The tests are super long and everyone intentionally does bad. The worst part of the class IMO is that at no point until when you get your final grade on webstac do you know how you're doing in the class which sucks because its hard to gauge how much effort to put in during finals week.

Professor Tsolmon is very encouraging and demonstrates expertise in business and management, but lectures tend to be somewhat superficial and are not very helpful for the difficult assignments, and you can arguably learn more from subsections. Exams are hard and very lengthy but curved. Case comp is a lot of work but rewarding.

I love Professor Tsolmon! MGT100 is definitely among the most difficult classes I've taken at WashU, and case competition is incredibly time-consuming. However, Professor Tsolmon really made my time enjoyable and valuable! If you're interested in Olin/possibly transferring to Olin, I would definitely recommend taking this course.

Great professor, very professional and clearly cares about her students. The course is hard but she tries to make it as easy as possible. She always tries to help kids participate in class, but if you don't, there's always the discussion boards on Canvas. All students can get full participation points even if they're uncomfortable speaking.

Prof Tsolmon is very interesting and passionate. There was more micro compared to other mgt100 classes. The grading criteria is unclear at the end of the semester. However, I learned a lot from this class and had fun during case comp.

Prof Tsolmon is very enthusiastic In terms of teaching, very interesting class activities. Participate during lecture then you will be fine. Get ready to read a lot. Casecomp is very time consuming.

MGT 100 is not an easy class, and with Prof. Tsolmon, it is even more difficult. Reading quizzes each day and more tests than other sections means you will have to have a better understanding of the material to perform well in the class\n\nThat being said, she is one of the sweetest and funniest profs in Olin, and it has been an absolute joy this sem

Professor Tsolmon is a kind person, and she clearly cares about her students. Sometimes lectures can be boring and repetitive. I find that she focuses on the easiest parts of homework and readings as opposed to the most difficult concepts. Reviewing for tests is tough because the TAs are sometimes just as lost as the students.

There is a lot of reading but it isn't covered much or reviewed in the classes. Lectures are boring because the professor doesn't focus on the most difficult concepts, but spends a lot of time on stuff everyone already knows. Not accessible outside of class. You have to take time out of your weekends to succeed in this class.

The class was tough, participation system absolutely sucks. Get ready to read a lot outside of class, but it's manageable if you start early. Tsolomon was solid, I got to know her outside of class and shes really sweet. Case comp is a lot of work but lots of fun.

Was super intimidated by her high expectations for the class at the beginning of the semester but she ended up being one of my favorite professors thus far. She wants you to learn, and she's also really open to student feedback

The exams are fairly difficult and there are daily reading quizzes which make it feel like a lot of work at times. However, in class, Professor Tsolmon gives good lectures where she encourages participation from most of the class. She is also quite funny!

Professor was very heavy on participations, she would have her TA grade you everyday on participation. There's a daily quiz on your readings, so be prepare to do those readings. Case Comp is also very hard. If you win, she gives a little glass trophy which was pretty cool. I like her lecture style personally, but she can go on tangents often.

Poorly structured class, especially during COVID-19. No accommodations or leniency for absences due to external circumstances. Worst part-TAs don't grade final exam or all work components before assigning final grade. They refuse to explain your final grade breakdown, extremely unprofessional for a school like WashU. Arbitrary grading system.

A great professor, but a super hard grader (same with TAs)! There's a lot of readings and you are tested on them, but she usually goes through the main ideas in lectures. She doesn't show leniency towards missing classes (even during a pandemic), which I did not like. Overall, MGT100 is a lot of work and time consuming, but very interesting!

Professor Tsolmon truly is fantastic. I remember the first couple of weeks where I was so nervous about this class and about her, but she truly cares about her students (and their education). She aims to teach her students ideals beyond simply business stuff. She speaks to larger issues. Overall, taking this class was an awesome decision.

For a 100 level course she was incredibly harsh in terms of grading, and not very understanding. Out of the 6 courses I took this semester professor Tsolmon handled the transition the worst. She continued to expect constant participation and showed no leniency or understanding given the circumstances. I would NOT recommend her class.

Tsolmon is super sweet and takes the time to get to know and include everyone in discussions. There are a lot of readings and you are tested on them, but they are not unbearable and are often interesting. The case competition at the end seems intimidating but ended up as a great experience. Usually best if you already have some basic econ.

When I signed up for Tsolmon's class, I was really nervous because I had read her RateMyProfessor reviews. She ended up being my favorite professor at WashU so far! Although MGT100 is a lot of work, Tsolmon structures it in a way that is very understandable and engaging. She cares about her students & wants to get to know you outside the classroom!

As a non-business student, professor Tsolmon was very intimidating at first and the class was very difficult for me because I had no business background whatsoever. When I was taking the class, I could describe it as suffering from my perspective. It was only after taking the class did I realize how great of a professor Tsolmon truly is.
12/21/2018
In the beginning of the semester, Professor Tsolmon made it extremely clear who was in charge. During the first two weeks or so, the entire class was terrified of her. However, after a while, she began to loosen up and let her wonderful personality and sense of humor shine through. Overall, a terrific professor.

Prepare yourself, MGT 100 is far from easy. Although concepts may not be too tricky, prepare yourself for 2 hours+ of homework per class. That being said, Tsolmon is a really good teacher and cares about her students. She also makes the class interesting. If you put in the work and show up prepared you'll be fine.

This class was a good way to start college in a business school. provided a nice overview of basic concepts. A lot of emphasis on real world issues. I very much enjoyed advice give to us on professional behavior. The professor was passionate about the subject matter and conveyed this passion to us in a convincing and genuine way.

The professor is very engaging and very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed inclusive environment in this class because it encouraged me to contribute more to discussion. I liked how many of the subjects covered were related to current events.
7/26/2017
Professor Tsolmon is caring, kind and well prepared. She is one of the best teachers and roll models I have had.
6/20/2017
Absolutely terrible. She is disorganized, rude in class and unfair in grading. All her students are confused on the material and she assigns piles of work at the last minute. It is extremely hard to learn from her and makes the class very unenjoyable. It is also hard to participate as she is condescending.
11/28/2016
She's always there for you and it's much easier to learn from her one on one. It was her first time teaching MGT100 last semester so it was hard for her to clearly teach all the material but classes were very fun and interactive. The TA Subsection really helped me solidify content. Tests are very hard so you have to work pretty hard.
