General Chemistry II

Megan Daschbach is my role. model. Although I couldn't go to her lectures, I went to every single one of her help sessions. Let me tell you: each week, her teaching was a MONUMENTAL lock in moment. I can tell how hard she works for the class & is willing to help students. She is nothing short of phenomenal. Words don't do it justice.

Undoubtedly amazing lecturer who aced in teaching. However, tests are extremely hard and take up a large portion of ur grade. She always asserts that she wants to help develop applied problem solving skills, but ironically you can only get a good grade if you practice a lot of exam-like questions instead of actually developing ur thought processes.

Excellent course, but it is really tough. The exams really make you think. Ultimately, grading is very fair and reflects how much you learn.

Very challenging class, but you do learn a lot. There is anxiety about grades, w some classmates insisting they will curve. K...grades just came out. Grade lines are legit (I got an A by 1 pt), so they do just add up your points. This is nice & fair. Overall, great semester, but you work hard.

Great teacher and human. I was first hesitant to approach him, but he is so great. I really like how he cleared up the kinetics material for me.

Literally the most amazing professor ever. If you can't learn from Dr. Daschbach, you have no hope of learning general chemistry because she makes everything so digestible and easy to understand, and always answers questions so thoroughly and is so knowledgeable about what she is teaching. She is so so good. One would regret not taking her class.

Good class and good teacher. Very organized and she really tried to connect with the students. In the end, I just did not find the material as exciting as 1701. Sorry classmates, but in a sick way, I like that the exams are not just memorizing old problems.

Such a unique teacher. He is funny and effective. Just so engaging you can't help but learn during his lectures. That said, his evening help sessions are even better. Hope to have him again.

Daschbach really knows the material. She lectures way fast and they can be tough to follow live. Spend the time to watch the lecture videos. Exams are hard as &*^^ but the grade lines are generous. Overall, quality person and professor and a very good class.

I really like his teaching style. Mostly chalk w some ppt for pictures and plots. He genuinely cares that we are learning. HS were great for discussing topics.

Awesome and funny professor and person! He's not the kind of professor that acts like he's above everyone else, he's very approachable and can joke around! He's not the best at explaining things, but you can watch Daschbach's lecture videos sometimes, or go to her office hours to supplement Loomis's lectures. Also, the exams are way too hard.

Professor Daschbach is an AMAZING professor, so enthusiastic and great lecturer. However, her class is way too hard, significantly harder than Gen Chem at other schools. The exams are way too hard and you can study so much, go to office hours, and do everything right, and still do poorly on the exams because of the absolute curveball questions.

Don't let anyone fool you, this is a challenging class. Yet, the grading is extremely generous. Loomis is engaging & funny. He makes some "typos", but he owns up on them. His help sessions are key. This was his and Prof. D's first time w this course, but I am sure it'll be even better in the future. Quoting Loomis "great shtuff".

This class was very challenging for me (like a definite struggle) but Bleeke made me hate it so much less. Truly a great, caring, heart-warming and hard-working professor that has brought so much value to the chemistry department. Chill guy 1000/10

The class is set up very well. If you are coming from 111A you'll be just fine, but the lectures are a step down from Daschbach/Mabbs. He took the time to show every derivation for each equation which was helpful for conceptual understanding (but was never explicitly graded).

Loved Bleeke, sad to see him leave. Somewhat old-school in his lectures, but really comprehensive if you can pay attention all the way through the equation derivations.nQuizzes were not that bad, exams were mostly problems we'd seen before somewhere.

Professor Bleeke always explains concepts very clearly and coherently. Unlike other professors, he makes it very clear where a number he wrote down is coming from. His evident passion is also infectious and has helped me to become increasingly interested in chemistry throughout the semester. Hats off to a great professor and decades-long career!
