She was super helpful throughout the class and was clearly excited about what she was teaching.

Professor Duchek is simply amazing and gives incredible lectures. I always look forward to coming to her class because of the high energy she has and her genuine love for developmental psychology.

Professor Duchek is a great professor. Her unit of Psych 100B was really interesting and fun. She is super smart, but also a really nice and caring person. No need to read the textbook if you go to class and take notes. The exam wasn't too bad, but it was harder than the other Psych 100B professors' exams.

The examples she gave in class - often anecdotes and videos - are funny and representative of concepts. Lectures clear and engaging. Most exam-relevant info are in her lectures so don't skip classes. Makes clear what material is important and what is not, very helpful sample questions provided! Humorous in class and warm in office hours.

LOVE her and her lectures are so interesting. You HAVE to go to class because her lecture slides are pretty bare, so take notes on what she says in lecture. Tests are kind of tricky, but once you get the hang of it they aren't too bad. If you can take a class with Duchek, DO IT. She cares so much about her students and is such a funny, warm person.

Professor Duchek is great! She is genuinely nice person who wants her students to understand the concepts she is teaching. However a lot of people go into dev psych thinking they won't have to work and quickly find out this class involves a fair amount of studying. If you are willing to do the work, I 10/10 recommend Duchek!

Duchek is sweet and a great professor. Had her for 321 & Intro. She definitely cares about her students. Tests are heavily based on lecture, so showing up to class is worth it. If there is something on the test that was not covered in lecture, she will be specific about it. Tests are pretty hard and require lots of memorization & studying to pass.

I wish I could take every psychology class with Professor Duchek, she is a real gem. Best psychology class I have ever had at WashU! I can't rave about her enough.

Prof. Duchek is a fantastic professor! She is engaging and takes care to try and learn as many names as possible in 200-300 person classes. She's incredibly kind and her lectures are fun too! She even brought in multiple times (for developmental psych) some colleague's children for us to play cognitive games with in front of the class!

This woman is incredible! She makes expectations clear, so studying for her tests is very straightforward. She presents the material in a super engaging way so that you remember her anecdotes and thus the material. She is a wonderful educator, if you get the chance to take her class, do it!

Professor Duchek is by far the best professor I have ever had. Her class was my favorite throughout my college experience thus far and if I could take it again I would. She is a great lecturer and her tests are extremely straight forward. If you pay attention (which isn't hard in her class) you will be just fine! Love love love Jan Duchek

Clear lectures and expectations. Lectures are emphasized over reading the textbook (you only have to read some parts of the book), i.e. definitely have to go to lecture. The easiest prof out of Sommers and Lambert. She's also a nice person!

I can't rave about Professor Duchek enough! She really is fantastic. If you have the chance, take any class with her. She explains things so clearly. She really is there for you and wants to make sure you understand the material. She is a dynamic lecturer who makes boring lectures interesting by adding personal stories to narrate her lectures.

Really engaging lectures, very clear in what she expects, connects with students easily. Very nice outside of class. The type of person who will get you hooked on Psychology.

Prof. Duchek is engaging, exciting, and well prepared during every single class. She keeps the material relevant and interesting and makes a point to get to know students' names. All the exam questions are from lecture and when they're not she tells you exactly where to look in the textbook.

Duchek is my favorite professor I've had at WashU so far. She is incredibly sweet, an engaging lecturer, and a fair test writer. Her tests are very straight forward and always from the class notes. If there is going to be a question on the test that was not discussed in class, she'll tell you the exact paragraph to read in the textbook.

Made the psych fun and interesting, and presented information very clearly. The tests are extremely hard, but it's worth it to have her and take this class

Duchek is really funny and gives you a lot of life lessons throughout class. Her lectures are very clear and she often has great clips to add to it. The hours went by so fast, the class was thrilling. Take Dev Psych it's the best. Exams are hard though, but worth it.

Her lectures are fast-paced but very clear and informative. If you have all the lecture notes, you will be able to get good marks on the exam but there are some questions on her exams which test random facts from the textbook! I learnt a lot in this class and Professor Duchek is very kind and approachable.

Great teacher and person! She made a mandatory psychology course interesting and is helpful in any way she can be. Her slight humor makes class fun. Textbook is not needed.

Funny, engaging. Sometimes lectures drift into interesting, but inconsequential discussions. Great intro course.

I was actually excited to go to this class every day. She is a great teacher--very approachable. And I didn't think her tests were that bad at all. Since it's developmental psych, she brings in babies before each test, which is great!

She was an alright teacher, my least favorite of the three though. Her lectures, though pretty well done, strayed very far away from the course material and had some irrelevant personal stories mixed in. I just hated her tests. By the far the hardest. She tested mostly on little details and facts.

I thought she was the best of the professor rotation for the class, but her exam too did not reflect what I had learned. I did really like that she was the expert on the section she taught, though, and look forward to more classes with her.

The best prof. that I have ever had! I have had intro, developmental, and experimental psych with her. She made all 3 very interesting. She really cares for her students and is always willing to help. You have to take one of her classes sometime at Wash U.
