Palmer is not the most engaging lecturer, but he makes an effort and is a professor who genuinely wants his students to succeed. He is extremely passionate about accounting and the business world with some super interesting experience. That said, the textbook will be a greater source for learning than his slides.

Overall not as hard as people say he is. If you give yourself enough time on the take-homes you will do decent. Just study for exams and take the time to do the homework assignments well.

Palmer's class was a really good experience in my opinion. Not too difficult and overall reasonable exams. The one thing to note is that the take-homes can take a long time, but they are not too hard to succeed on. If you pay attention in class and ask questions, you will get a good grade in the class.

Lectures were kind of boring and the take-home assignments were all pretty hard, but Palmer was open to answering questions and I thought the TAs were nice. If you read the textbook and understand quiz questions, you'll likely do well in the course.

Solid professor with lots of accounting experience. Grading is fair, and if you are willing to put the work in, you can get at least an A- in my opinion. Exams aren't difficult but again, you need to study and take enough time to complete the take-home portion. He is understanding a nice guy to talk to also, I think other reviews are too harsh.

Great professor and great guy. Lectures are slightly monotone but this is accounting, what do you expect? Always accessible out of class and responds to emails. Clearly wants his students to succeed. Tests are easier than the review that he gives. Grading depends on the TA you get. Projects are tough and one TA may give you an A while the other a B

Honestly just a really nice guy and fair grader. Accounting is inherently a mundane subject but his classes are definitely more interesting than I expected. Great Professor!

Great Teacher, super caring but the course material is boring and requires a good amount of reading. If you are ready to put in the effort you should be able to get an A

I honestly learned more by looking at the slides from the textbook then from his lecture. The grading system is weird and makes it hard to tell where you are in the class. Also, assignments are graded very harshly so be careful for flow through errors. He is a fine teacher but I am not a big fan of the way the class is tought.

The course is heavily reliant on the textbook, and his teaching is okay, but a little too problem-focused in my opinion. He also gives two-part test. One part is a written take-home test you work on with a group, while the other part is a multiple-choice in-class test. Both are not too difficult, but again, heavily textbook-reliant.

Nice guy but not a good professor. Lack of clarity leads to self-teaching through textbook

Accounting with prof. Palmer has been a good experience overall. Class is definitely a lot more rigorous than other sections, but it is very manageable. He is charismatic and passionate about the subject, and although he often goes on tangents, I always felt that I had a handle on the material, even when I did not do the lengthy textbook readings.

He uses the textbook to teach and spends class trying to pick complicated problems because he expects you to have a basic foundation for accounting already. In reality, he is supposed to break down the information to a practical level so students can learn from him.

I personally really liked Prof Palmer, if you do the chapter readings before class and make an effort the class if definitely doable!

Supposed to be an introductory Accounting class but waste of the hardest class I have taken at WashU. He is a terrible lecturer and he makes everything so boring and hard to understand. Also gives an insane amount of hard quizzes and take home test and finals. The amount of stress this class caused me is beyond measurable. Don't take !!!

Enjoyed the class. He liked to give advice in real world accounting which I enjoyed. Learned most of the real content in the homeworks online. Only a few paid attention in class.

Palmer's lectures don't help me learn. Last class, he passed out a packet of problems and didn't even go over a single one, but instead lectured about accounting-related stories and was unclear about the points he was making. Class is mandatory and his grading criteria seem clear on paper, but there have been many regrade requests, etc so far.

Palmer doesn't teach during his lectures. Rather, he either does unnecessary practice problems or tells stories about his life. Because of this, students are forced to self-teach from the textbook. Homework takes multiple hours per week, there are bi-weekly quizzes, and exams are incredibly long. Take another professor for this class if you can.
