Profe. Anghel is a super kind and helpful professor that truly wants her students to succeed. I originally had her for 303, and she later helped me with fellowship applications by providing valuable feedback on my essays. She gives very detailed and constructive feedback on writing that helped me better develop my narrative.

This professor truly cares about giving meaningful feedback to her students about their writing, and is always making sure that they understand the course material and feel they are writing about something meaningful to them! The course material was also interesting, current, diverse, and helped facilitate a greater understanding of latin culture.

I took Profesora Anghel's class and it was my favorite Spanish class I've taken. She created a collaborative class environment and supported student participation. She had a deep understanding and passion for topics relating to gender equality and cultural studies and taught us how to properly convey our thoughts in essays. Very kind and helpful.

At first I did not like that she lets students speak english in class. I felt awkward when I would decide to try speaking spanish to practice but she slowly learned her teaching style (it was her first semester teaching) and became much more strict (in a motivating way). Loved the content and discussions, she makes participating easy.

Great professor! Class usually consists of small group discussions about whatever the homework material is. Homework is definitely mandatory and a little bit heavy but it's always things like watching a movie or reading a book. Would 100% take again. Prof. Anghel was amazing and learned a lot from this class!

Office hours with Anghel were always constructive. Discussion-based class format; she values analysis and understanding over rote learning of content. Detects specific weaknesses in class and consciously makes an effort to strengthen them. I suspect she would teach a class with less predefined of a schedule than 303 even better. Great overall.

The sweetest professor, always accommodating to students. She really takes the time and effort to help you out and make sure you're getting the most out of her class. Regardless of your comfort level with Spanish, if you have the opportunity to take a class with Anghel, I highly recommend it.

I took Spanish 102 with Professor Anghel. She is always available and willing to help students. I love that she put an emphasis on lots of interaction between classmates, as that really is the best way to learn and improve your Spanish.

Shirley was a great assistant professor in the class I took. She offered helpful feedback on homework and was always friendly.

Shirley was the TA for a major seminar I was in and she was always so kind and helpful! I had several great discussions with her when we were paired up to talk during class. Her comments and corrections on homework were thoughtful and helpful. When she led the class she encouraged participation but didn't pressure students.

Professor Anghel taught my first Spanish class at WashU and was helpful to me as a beginner, including time outside of class. She's very nice and teaches as well as anyone I've had in the Spanish department here. I definitely felt comfortable participating in her class, which is important in any language class.

Although Shirley was the TA for this class, she really helped in making it engaging and easy to follow as it was a new course at WashU. Shirley was great in giving feedback that allowed for improvement, and never shut down a student. Instead, she worked to help us understand our mistakes so we could correct them in the future.

The poor rating on here does not accurately reflect Anghel's class at all but of 202 in general. Mine was a 7 person class... of course you can't skip class! Anghel creates a fun learning environment without the pressure to feel like you should be at a level you are not. I felt comfortable speaking up because she corrects you in a supportive way.

1-Has lost my grade- twice 2-Required a meeting outside of class so I set up a meeting with her around lunch time. She cancelled on that morning via email because she 'didn't anticipate being so busy' 3- Is one of the last ones to 9am class, but will dock you for coming late 4-Has missed class 3 times- fails students for missing more than 3 times
