College Writing: Dreams & Nightmares

COLLEGE WRITING PROGRAM

This course is an opportunity to explore and experiment, to dwell in uncertainty and inquiry, and to entertain confusion before resolution. Whether a student's area of interest is the psychology of dreams, monsters, memory, desire, cognition and neuroscience, or the underbelly of the American Dream, they will will find room to interrogate subjects -- both real and imagined -- as well as texts and theories that destabilize categories, embody possibility, and threaten established order. THIS COURSE SATISFIES THE FIRST-YEAR WRITING REQUIREMENT FOR ALL DIVISIONS.

Professor Waitman was the bomb. She was pretty easy with grading but still gave solid feedback and clas

great class until the last week where she fully could not give our grades back

i literally dropped her class after 2 classes bc we already had a boatload of work plus she was super condescending and rude. She also outright told us that she's a hard grader- switch if you get her awful class

Taught me how to approach writing in a completely different and engaging way. Weekly assignments on top of the 3 papers u have to write for the semester, but they don't take too much time and really serve as a guide for how you should approach writing. I found the assignments to be good stepping stones to help you prepare for the papers.

She talks or talks to herself most of the time which is really dull. Readings not heavy, no test or quiz on the reading, just need skim thru a bit before class. Workload is fine. Compare to other cwp teachers, she is good.

She assigns way too much homework. She also says she "understands" how busy her students are but then expects them to be able to keep up with all the homework and essays that she assigns. Her essays are very specific and ask for a lot, but she doesn\'t give students enough time to write something that meets her expectations.

Kinda poop. Not the worst but felt pointless.

Mr Clark is a very supportive teacher, though he tends to assign a lot of assignments along with being a very tough grader. To do well I would recommend participating in class as much as possible and even talking to him after class when possible. Mr. Clark does reward this as he round up my grade without me needing to even ask which was much appreciated.

This is a really great class with Professor Waitman. She makes the class super interesting and a super fair class.

I spent 45 minutes during registration just trying to get this college writing class with Professor Waitman, and I can tell you that it was worth every second. She is very thoughtful, gives a lot of feedback on your work before it is actually graded, and also brings her dog to class which is fun.

a lot more work assigned compared to the other college writing classes, everything counted towards our grade and a lot of the assigned readings/videos/movies felt loosely related to the course. he makes you a better writer but you really have to work for your grade (definitely go to office hours)

not a bad college writing, sanders assigned a pretty average amount of writing comparatively and none of it was graded too harshly. obviously varies a lot based on professor, but the readings we had were pretty interesting and short for the most part

If you make it look like you are putting in a lot of effort she will grade you generously. Half assed my papers and still somehow had an A+. Also, she cancels class randomly/leaves early for things and gets distracted fairly easily (we spent like 30 minutes on catgpt watching it respond with meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow)

After 4 months of passive aggressive comments on my essays, 3 mental breakdowns, insanely harsh grading, and the inability to use the bathroom during class, my suffering is finally over. Please for the love of God switch out of this class by any means possible.

Best teacher in this school I wish I could take her for more classes. Best college writing professor. 100% take her class. Best professor in this school

Professor Gregory is amazing! She is very understanding and always accessible outside class. She genuinely wants her students to succeed and gives fair feedback and grades. Go to lecture and try your best and you will be alright!

Quality: 1Difficulty: 5Slachman

Professor Slachman is a harsh lecturer who, from her high horse, spews out endless but useless advice and examples. Her attempts at humor often feel more like attacks, leaving us uncomfortable and drained. Her academic explanations are ineffective, and I frequently feel on the verge of a mental breakdown in her class.

The only cwp professor that one should try to avoid at any cost. And for the sake of God, we know that you have forged good comments about yourself, Dr. Slachman.

Slachman\'s grading criteria are as clear as a foggy day in London. Honestly, if confusion were a class, she\'d be the valedictorian! Claiming to be an "expert" in academic writing after a ten-year hiatus is like calling yourself a chef because you once microwaved a burrito.
